webbysol is a tool people use to build their own sites. We do not create, choose or review what they put on them. When we are told that something here infringes somebody's rights, we act on it.
Reporting infringement
The quickest route is the Report link in the footer of the site in question. Choose the copyright option and it reaches the same queue as everything below, already carrying what we need.
To send a notice directly, write to our designated agent and include all of:
- Your physical or electronic signature.
- Identification of the work you say is infringed: the specific photograph, artwork, video or text, not a category of them.
- The address of the page where it appears here, specific enough for us to find it.
- Your name, postal address, telephone number and email address.
- A statement that you believe in good faith that the use is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
- A statement that the information in your notice is accurate, and, under penalty of perjury, that you are the owner or authorised to act on their behalf.
A notice missing any of these cannot be acted on and we will have to come back to you for it, which only delays the removal you asked for.
Designated agent
Email is the fastest route and is monitored, so please use it. Our full postal address is on file with the U.S. Copyright Office at dmca.copyright.gov, where it can be looked up if you need to serve a notice by post. You can also use the report link on any published site to reach us with the same details.
What happens next
We remove or disable access to the material promptly, and tell the site's owner what was removed and why. Where the material was an uploaded file, we also record it so the same file cannot be uploaded again on any site here.
If you think we got it wrong
If your material was removed and you believe that was a mistake or a misidentification, you can send a counter-notice to the same agent, including:
- Your signature.
- What was removed, and where it appeared before it was.
- A statement under penalty of perjury that you believe in good faith it was removed as a result of a mistake or misidentification.
- Your name, address and telephone number, and your consent to the jurisdiction of the federal court for your district, or, if you are outside the United States, any district in which we may be found.
We pass valid counter-notices to whoever sent the original complaint. If they do not go to court within the period the law allows, we may restore the material.
Repeat infringers
We keep a record of upheld complaints against each account. Where the same account is the subject of repeated copyright complaints that we uphold, we terminate it and its sites come down. Payments are not refunded in that case.
A note for people building sites
The mistake we see most is not what people expect. A public figure's name is not the problem. A photograph of them almost always is, because the rights belong to the photographer or the agency, not to the person in the picture. Press and stock images are actively policed and a memecoin site is not too small to be noticed.
Use images you made, images you have licensed, or images released under a licence that permits it. The same goes for logos and brand marks: using someone else's to suggest they are involved in your project is a separate problem from copyright, and we remove sites for it too.
